The Orchard Project (begun in 2008) is explored here in a variety of drawings and unique editioned prints, looking for an intimate, subtle, and minimal portrait of a tree.
Overall, the project is a study of the antiquated orchard through a variety of processes. The creative process itself is a collision between early technology and contemporary technological strategies.
The Orchard Project functions as a metaphor for how we confront the outdated, the antiquated, the unmarketable, and the aged. It embodies the tension between the social values of commerce and culture, formally juxtaposing photography and drawing and questioning the way we see and know.
